What is SmoothGlo?
SmoothGlo is a combination treatment of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling. SmoothGlo is a sequential treatment that targets the three biggest signs of aging skin – tone, texture, and volume. By addressing all three areas in one session, SmoothGlo patients are able to dramatically reverse the visible signs of aging and enjoy a brighter, more youthful glow.
How does SmoothGlo work?
IPL
First the IPL device Is used to treat pigmentation concerns. IPL uses light energy to target and remove brown and red pigment, stimulating our body to get rid of them and produce more collagen. IPL can also treat vascular lesions, broken capillaries, and rosacea.
RF Microneedling
RF Microneedling treats skin laxity and wrinkles by breaking the epidermis with fractionated needles and delivering heat energy into the dermal layer. This heat pulse is up to 167° F into the dermal layer and stimulates fibroblast activity which results in the natural production of hyaluronic acid (HA), elastin, and collagen. These all lead to tightening and rejuvenation of the skin.
What to expect after SmoothGlo?
Your skin will feel warm for a few hours after treatment. You may experience redness and mild swelling for up to 4 days after treatment. Minor scabbing will develop on the treatment areas which will naturally heal and shed off a week after treatment. Your overall skin texture may feel dry and like sandpaper, but these are normal side effects that will subside after 4-7 days of treatment.
It is important to avoid sun exposure for at least one week after treatment and discontinue the use of retinol products. We recommend using gentle and non-abrasive cleansers after treatment and to moisturize frequently.
